LAURIE LEAVITT

I am drawn to the colorful fruits and vegetables on farm stand shelves, juxtaposed with each other.  I love the solid, voluptuous forms of the fruit. Caught in the natural light, it helps me to create the illusion of space on my two dimensional canvas. I paint, often heightening the contrast between light and dark to establish depth, emphasizing the color and reflected light in the shadows.
